I really don't see Barrie going anywhere. He wants to be in Edmonton. He's very well liked in the room. But guys like Demers and Ryan Murray give some added depth, especially on nights when they they dress 7 d-men.

I think that's the top 4. Move names around if needed. Then you have Broberg and Murray on the left side and Barrie and Demers on the right side. So Woodcroft can dress 3 of them and pair them off as the situation requires.

Sharks and Kane have reached a settlement.

Basically like I said before he will get paid a sum that will almost take him to his previous cap hit. Oilers basically getting him with retention by SJ except they don’t get penalized for his cap hit. If that makes sense.

Brett Richie takes stupid penalties, and at the wrong times, but you can't fault his attitude and eagerness. He'd be an annoying one to play against in the BOA.

Kinda sorta.

Wonder if he’s finally made enough coin to get out the debt hole he dug?

He owes Vegas like $25M. He's not even close to getting out the hole he's dug.

Attach a 2nd round pick to Foegele and a team like Anaheim or Arizona or Detroit would take him. Then bring in Jake Virtanen for $1M. Would take Virtanen over Ritchie any day.

How about neither. I’m not sure why Holland thinks adding more forwards is going to change anything. It’s the backend that stinks.

I’m not sure if his bankruptcy was ever settled. If it was he’d be starting somewhat fresh without that debt. Hopefully he plays out his contract and ends his career without a penny though.

Didn't Dreger say that the sharks will get a cap charge? So kind of the same thing as if they did retain a couple mil salary and trade him.

The cap hit is retroactive to last year. He is being paid the difference in the contracts for the next three years as a lump sum that hits their cap from last year.

Oilers only have 11 forwards under contract. 12 once they sign McLeod. So they still need a couple of bodies. Virtanen would add a bit of size and physicality to the bottom 6 which currently includes Derek Ryan, Devin Shore, Matthias Janmark. Pretty soft bunch. Other options to fill in the remaining forward spots include Tyler Benson, Brad Malone, etc...Would rather add Virtanen at a league minimum show-me deal.

A figured all along this was the most likely scenario and that San Jose would settle and Kane would remain an oiler at no extra cost to them.
The bumhole scores goals so that’s good I guess. He’s still a goof though

Oilers are center and left wing heavy but are thin on the right side.

Depends where you choose to lineup Hyman. You could easily see their right side as Hyman, Yamamoto, Puljujarvi, and Ryan with Bourgault, Griffith and perhaps Lavoie as call-ups throughout the year. May not be as good at the top end as LW (if you count Nuge as a LW) or as deep as C (if you count Nuge as a C), but I wouldn't call it thin given the team's structure.

Exactly, Hyman and Ryan have to play on the right side because there is no depth. Meanwhile we have Shore, Benson, Malone, McKegg and Hamblin all LW and C fighting for the 13th and 14th forward spots.

It could be reasonably argued that both Hyman and Ryan are optimally deployed at RW instead of their other position. I'm not sure I'm getting your point.

If they bring in a couple low-tier R shot guys like Ritchie and Nash, will they suddenly be deep there given they'd then have those guys alongside Griffith fighting for 13th and 14th forward like in your example? Because to my eye, they're about on the same tier as those guys you mentioned.

We lost Kassian and Archibald two right wings and replaced them with two left wings in Holloway and Janmark, Ryan is turning 36, Puljujarvi's future is in doubt and Hyman's comments last summer sounded like he preferred playing left wing. Griffith isn't good enough defensively or physically to play in the bottom 6, Woodcroft literally called up Malone instead of him last season. Shore and Mckegg were 13th/14th forwards last year with 40+ nhl games each on playoff teams.

500 grand. Cosmopolitan casino. The courts estimated he had 1.5 mill in total gambling debts. He lost most of his money making poor financial decisions and took a beating from his divorce. He’s going to be fine at the end of the day. The court gave him full custody of his girl, he can’t be that bad of a guy.
